Updated: May 6, 2020
Dance, because it incorporates exercise and learning has a positive effect on the brain . In a recent study participants were involved in choreographed dances that challenged their cognitive and motor-learning skills. Each underwent MRI screenings at the beginning and end of six months. The test subjects who took dance classes during that time saw an improvement in an area of the brain related to memory and processing speed while the subjects who did other forms of exercise in the study did not. Furthermore, dancing integrates several brain functions at once...kinesthetic, rational, musical, and emotional further increasing your neural connectivity.
